Dear all We are very pleased to announce that ESS is hosting a workshop in collaboration with CERN, GSI, DESY, ITER, IFMIF and Cosylab on: "PLC based interlock systems as used for Machine Protection and Personnel Safety/Access Systems". You are kindly invited to participate! The workshop takes place on the 29th and 30th of August 2013. Main focus will be given on PLC based interlock systems, however there is also one session on fast FPGA based interlock systems. We will cover topics like: - Machine Protection Systems - Access Systems - Magnet Powering Systems - Target Safety Systems - PLCs for vacuum systems, cryogenics, detector safety systems - Different PLC architectures (how safe, how fast, how complex) - Different PLC types (experience with vendors, future trends) - Fieldbus technologies - PLC test benches - Operational experience (radiation issues, availability, reliability, process safety, etc) - Interfaces to control systems - Services (logging, archiving, post mortem, clock synchronization) Please have a look to the agenda as well. In order to organize this workshop as efficient as possible please make your registration in Indico before August 19. Hotels have been pre-booked in Lund city centre (StayAt hotel) and at Sparta hotel close to ESS offices. Please let Caroline Prabert know your preferences by filling in your registration. Please note that the venue is changed. As so many people are interested to come, we needed to go for a bigger conference room. It's still close to the ESS offices. Please see map that will be sent out. Regards Caroline
