The IKON meetings are a regular forum centred around the design and construction of the ESS neutron instruments and their associated support facilities.
By bringing together current and future partners, the meetings aim to provide an overview on the various activities and fertilise exchange that is vital to our success.
Scientists from ESS member countries currently not engaged in in-kind activities but interested in joining are encouraged to participate.
Our IKON meetings become more and more centred around the In-Kind Collaborations on Instrument Construction.
The IKON6 meeting reflects the gradual transition from the conceptual design towards the construction of instruments.
The collaborative nature of the meeting is emphasised focusing on 'how we build the ESS instruments'.
At the start of IKON6 we will learn more about the in-kind models for the construction phase; a topic discussed in a satellite workshop prior to IKON6. The following plenary talks will be focussing on technical topics related to instrument engineering, target and moderator design and neutron technologies. Also the status of data management, conventional facilities and science support will be presented.
Those topics are structuring the plenary sessions as well as the poster sessions.
Parallel sessions during the second day will provide insight into the status of the various instrument concepts and method developments.
For a detailed program for both plenary talks and parallel sessions please go to the Material page (button 'Slides' here at the bottom). You can also hit the 'Detailed view' button in the timetable.
All participants are encouraged to present their work regarding instrument specific technology solutions, bench-marking, figures of merit for the moderators and other topics related to neutron technologies during the poster sessions.
Please provide us with a title for your poster contribution before February 15th.
IKON6 will be a two-day / one-night meeting starting on Wednesday lunchtime and closing on Thursday late afternoon.
