The European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund is advancing toward the delivery and utilisation of its first neutrons. This year marks several critical milestones in the project. The facility is also gearing up for the start of user operations by the end of 2027.

Drawing on ESS's own experience, as well as that of other facilities, regarding the timeframes required to conceptualise, design, and construct new instruments, ESS has initiated a process to outline a strategic roadmap for future instrument development. This effort has begun with a call for input, aimed at guiding the long-term evolution of the instrument suite. Further details can be found at https://ess.eu/instrument-roadmap or by contacting the roadmap team at instrumentroadmap@ess.eu.

This webinar will provide an update on the instrument developments and scientific areas currently under consideration. Additional details will clarify the scope of the call and how interested stakeholders can participate.

The Heads of Instrument Divisions at ESS will also be available for questions during the session.
