The aim of this workshop is to gather experience from existing facilities and study plans for future facilities. Topics for presentations and discussions include:
• Uncontrolled beam losses and their impact.
• Typical beam loss locations in a transport line
• Beam quality & assessing the need for collimation systems
• The efficiency of halo reduction in a single-pass transfer line
• Collimator design:
• materials: efficiency, radiation resistance (fast and long-term), activation
• mechanical system: adjustment of jaw gap
• diagnostics to verify collimator state and performance
• shielding vs. size of collimator units
• cooling systems
• maintenance procedures: minimising maintenance and remote handling
Sharing relevant experience as well as future plans will be evenly appreciated. The topics and sessions will be better defined when attendance of external experts and contributions are declared.
