AD Seminar: Detector R&D at the Helsinki Institute of Physics

by Dr Matti Kalliokoski (University of Helsinki)

Europe/Stockholm
Description

The Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP) is a physics research institute that is operated jointly by five Finnish Universities, and by the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK). The research activity at the institute covers an extensive range of subjects in theoretical physics and experimental subatomic physics. The institute is responsible for the Finnish research collaboration with CERN and coordinates the Finnish contribution to the FAIR laboratory.

The Detector Laboratory of HIP contributes to these collaborations with detector development and research. In this presentation I will discuss the work we have done for various projects, such as collider experiments, exotic particle searches, medical imaging, and nuclear proliferation.
