Motion Control Workshop #3

The ESS MCA Workshop #3 will take place May 30 – June 1 2017. Once again it will begin around lunch time on Tuesday and end just before lunch on Thursday. Please register on this page to confirm your attendance. The intention for the agenda is to focus on agreeing on ESS standard components (meaning field devices such as motor, encoder, switches), an ESS cable/connector standard, selection of ESS controller components and the basis for an installation standard (fixed and mobile). This involves us communicating our strategies and choices prior to the workshop and allowing adequate time for participants to become familiar with in order to form opinions/suggestions. We will endeavor to have this information available far in advance of the workshop as possible which will enable us to: - Go through and agree on the requirements - Collect feedback on component recommendations - Identify what is ambiguous or not covered - Introduce procedures for In-Kind Partners requesting non-standard components We would also like to form the ESS strategy for applying co-ordinate systems to motion axes and abstraction of data (e.g. how positions are interpreted and passed through the control layers). Finally, we’d like to cover guidelines for working together as a collaboration going forward into Phase 3 of the Instrument Projects.
