ESTIA Early Science Workshop

Europe/Stockholm
Description

Join us for the ESTIA Early Science Workshop

The aim of the workshop is to plan for early science experiments on the polarised neutron reflectometer ESTIA at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden.

ESTIA will be the first neutron reflectometer to become operational at the ESS, with hot commissioning expected to begin in 2026. As this will be the same time at which the facility will be ramping up, the early science experiments will need to carefully consider the facility flux, stability and timeline. In this workshop, we will provide an overview of the instrument capabilities, expected performance as a function of facility start-up, keys dates, and currently planned sample environments.

The main objective of the workshop will be to foster discussions and brainstorm early science experiments aligned with ESTIA's primary research themes: condensed matter, magnetism, biology and functional materials. Specifically, with the aim to identify science cases and experiments that can make best use of the facility flux, instrument capability and sample environments available during the early science period at the ESS.

Who should attend?

We encourage researchers, university groups, instrument scientists, and aspiring ESS collaborators working in neutron reflectometry and polarised neutron reflectometry in attend, particularly in the fields of condensed matter, magnetism, biology and functional materials.

The meeting will be held online.
